Public Open Day

Community Open Day
A Community Open Day at Over Allotments was held in June 2003, "to celebrate the success [of the Winsford Community Allotments Project] and promote allotment gardening in Winsford and across Vale Royal." (Vale Royal was a local government district with borough status in Cheshire. It was abolished on 1 April 2009, when the new Cheshire West and Chester unitary authority was formed.) Public Open Day
The first Public Open Day organised entirely by Over Allotments Association was held on Saturday, 18 August 2007, timed to coincide with that year's National Allotments Week. A Public Open Day has been held each year since then, and is popular with the local community who come along in their hundreds to explore the allotments, talk with allotmenteers, and purchase plants, cakes, jams, pickles, and more. Needless to say, many names are added to Winsford Town Council's allotment waiting list soon after each Open Day! (Click here for how to apply for a plot.)
