Crop Rotation

Rotation is one of the most important tasks a plot-holder should undertake. Ideally the same crops should not be grown in the same place for four years.

The main reasons for crop rotation are:

  • to ensure soil-borne diseases don't build up in the soil;
  • to ensure crops grow well year after year;
  • different plants require different nutrition and if you were to use the same area for the same plants, the nutrients required would soon be removed and much harder to replace.
